My girlfriend used to live in an apartment complex really close to this restaurant, and we would eat here all the time. After she moved I rarely visited that part of the city, but when I do, I always stop here!

Call me basic, but I am a General's Chicken lover all the way. Sauces and marinades are extremely important in any dining, and this restaurant has some of the best General's sauce in the city. I always ask for extra to pour over my rice.

This is not a negative but, just to let people know. When we went for dinner, we were expecting a restaurant with wait service and to order family style like the other Chinese/Asian restaurants that we're used to. Here you order and pick up at the counter. Your food is in styrofoam takeout containers and they have a good size seating area with about 8-10 tables if you want to eat there.
The owners and workers were very nice and friendly to us and all their customers who came in. They seem to have a lot of regulars too. Which to me says something about the service and food.
Now to the food. We ordered a bunch of different food including the Orange Chicken, Beef Broccoli, Sweet Sour Shrimp, and Roast Duck. I liked the Beef Broccoli the best and my family just loves their Roast Duck. In fact they ordered it for takeout a few times since we've been there. Overall the food was about a 3.75 with some stuff being really good and others were ok and if your judging here with other Asian takeout places, I'd say they're above average. And again, they're such nice people.
Go check them out peeps and support local businesses!

    Bonus for my fellow Yelpers!

    FAST FOOD!

I know, old joke but, I heard it again recently and cracked up!

I recently read a story in the local news that the owner is dealing with some health issues and wanting to retire so I decided to drop by and try their food. I was glad I did. I will be sad when they close.

On my visit I ordered the Generals Chicken special, the Fried Shrimp and the Chicken Chow Mein. Each was more delicious than the last. The wait time was a bit long due to the level of calls for to-go orders, but it was worth it. Especially at the very reasonable prices they charge. About $25 w/ tip for the food I ordered which was easily enough for 2-3 meals.

You owe it to yourself to try this place before they are gone.

I remember going to Taiwan Restaurant as a kid to pick up Dry Beef Ho Fun with my mom. It has been in Reno for over 20 years and the food still tastes just as good. It is run by the nicest family. The have always given large, affordable portions and everything is made fresh.

Going back now, I have been able to try more of their menu. The best thing about Taiwan Restaurant is how many unique dishes they have. I have yet to find other places in town that offer some of the thing they do. One of the biggest highlights is the paper chicken appetizer. So good! The chicken is tender and flavorful.

Another of my favorites are the duck dishes. While it has been getting more common lately, it was always difficult to find whole duck dishes in Reno since they usually had to be picked up from Sacramento. Both the Crispy and the Roasted duck are delicious! Both have their distinct flavors so it wouldn't hurt to try both.

As always, the Dry Beef Ho Fun still tastes as good as it did 15 years ago, and you can't go wrong with the potstickers and crab rangoon.

There is definitely something for everyone on the menu so bring the whole family or take it to go to share. Currently, the owners are trying to retire so what better time than now to check out the restaurant before it's gone!

I was here for a very late lunch after getting a pedicure nearby. As I walked in at about 2 PM I was the only visible customer. The elderly gentleman behind the cash register took my order and I headed for the restroom. As I entered that room I wished I had come there first because after seeing it I would not have ordered any food. I have always heard that if the restroom is filthy you cannot count on the kitchen being any different. I was committed to my meal now which arrived quickly and was served in to-go cartons even though I had said I would eat at a table. I had ordered the most expensive thing on the lunch menu, a combination of meats, soup, fried rice and egg roll @ $13. The beef skewer and breaded deep-fried prawns both had strange flavors. I will say that the pork ribs were excellent, very meaty, not much fat, nicely cooked with a good (Old-fashioned) barbecue sauce. The fried rice was only steamed white rice with soy sauce, nothing more. The eggroll wrapper was very greasy and fried to a rock hard consistency. The egg flower soup also had a strange flavor, about three green peas, a small piece of red bell pepper and a bit of green pepper with fine shreds of something that could have been egg...or not.

Sometime during my meal I caught a glimpse of the elderly Chinese woman in the kitchen that was doing the cooking. I have a feeling that this couple is trying to keep the door to their restaurant open by cutting costs in every way they can possibly think of.

I should mention that quite a few other customers came in while I was there and stayed in house to eat from their plastic containers. Perhaps they live in the neighborhood and never venture forth to find some of the really excellent Asian food that is available in Reno.
